A Few Comments on Honduras and the Maya Today

The Maya are among the oldest civilizations of the Americas.  Despite the devastation of their culture by the invading Europeans, the Maya survive in the modern world, though not without struggles.

Experts in a variety of fields are recovering much of Maya history, lost and neglected for generations.

Honduras, part of the homeland of the Maya, is a low-income developing nation that is currently undergoing political and economic trauma.

I hope this site will assist in creating awareness of this important indigenous civilization while exploring conditions in Honduras as we near the Maya "end of the current cycle" in December 2012.
